Wahid Rahman

Wahid set up Aqua Law in 2017 when he decided to become a consultant solicitor, having worked in the City, mainly for Simmons & Simmons, since 2005, rising to managing associate.  During that time Wahid acted as in-house counsel for some of the top banks and financial institutions in the world, including Barclays Capital, Standard Chartered Bank, the Financial Markets Law Committee and Morgan Stanley.

Wahid is known for his strong financial acumen in achieving the best commercial outcomes for clients.  Clients regularly say that he sees the big picture quickly.  This helps clients make decisions quickly and not to get bogged down.  At the same time he has a very keen eye for contracts and technical drafting again being quick to suggest workable alternatives that “future-proofs” client’s positions.

Wahid has extensive experience in the creation of bespoke documentation for complex cross-border trading transactions and has advised clients on a wide range of legal issues affecting distressed and par transactions.  Wahid is a member of the Loan Market Association’s secondary documentation committee, which reviews and updates the market standard documentation used throughout the European loan market for par and distressed debt and claim trading.  Wahid has experience working closely with complex businesses as the lead external advisor and in an in-house capacity. Clients and colleagues have described Wahid as technically excellent, but above all, commercial and proactive. 

Wahid has strong links in the community including holding a director position for MuslimGiving.org a well-known platform for charitable giving and donations.  Wahid and his wife have three children, all of whom keep them very busy and occupied when he is able to get away from his work.  They enjoy holidaying abroad and making time for the wider family.
